Kodak Black has hit out at Drake for not putting in more effort to work with him.
Speaking in a video seemingly filmed by a friend, the controversial rapper called out the 6 God for letting his fierce rival Kendrick Lamar “beat” him to a collaboration.
“I’m Drake’s favorite rapper. He always says that. Even his people always say that,” he said while pacing around a room in circles. “It don’t make no sense how Kendrick Lamar beat you to it, you know what I mean?”
Kodak, who made multiple appearances on Kendrick’s 2022 album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, added: “I get why he sent all that money now. That’s why he sent that out of nowhere like that.”
The latter remark appears to be a reference to Drake once sending him $600,000 in Bitcoin.
Kodak revealed the generous gift during an interview with MONTREALITY, saying: “That boy Aubrey! That’s my dog. Drake sent me like 600 bands in Bitcoin. Drake dropped that shit on me. He said I’m his favorite rapper. I love that n-gga.”
Relations between the two appear to have cooled off after Yak said he no longer wanted to work with Drizzy following his joint album with 21 Savage.
The Florida rapper was planning to drop a whole project with the 6 God, but as he explained on Instagram Live last year, the release of Drizzy and 21’s Her Loss album made him reconsider.
“I had told Drake I ain’t wanna do no collab actually,” he said. “No songs or no album, ’cause we supposed to been did a whole album together before him and lil buddy did that shit.”
He added: “I had told him I wanted to wait, like 2023, after February.”
Kodak Black had previously teased a collaborative album with Drake and revealed they had already recorded a lot of music together.
“Me and Drake, we got so much music,” he said. “It’s really on, like, whenever bruh might feel like he be ready and stuff. Or when he be like, ‘We gon’ drop the album, we gon’ do this or we gon’ do [that].’ It’s really on him. We got a lot of songs, though.”
Despite the large amount of music apparently recorded, the two have yet to release any songs together.
