Divorce have released a refreshed take on their single “Antarctica”, this time featuring Marcus Mumford of Mumford and Sons. You can listen to it below.
Last month, Mumford told NME that he first came across Divorce through their NME The Cover feature, explaining, “I want to thank NME for introducing me to the band Divorce. They have genuinely become one of my favourite bands on the planet.
“We invited them to join us on tour,” he said. “I discovered them on an NME cover. I had never heard of them before, and now we are completely obsessed. They are unbelievable and far more people should be listening to them.”
Now he has joined forces with the band to create a new version of “Antarctica”, the opening track from their debut album Drive to Goldenhammer, which arrived earlier this year.
According to a press release, the idea for the collaboration started while Divorce were supporting Mumford and Sons on tour this summer. Mumford joined them onstage to duet on the track, and a clip of the moment made the rounds on social media.
Co vocalist and bassist Tiger Cohen Towell reflected on the updated version, saying, “Meeting Mumford and Sons and getting to play shows with them has been a huge honour and one of the biggest highlights of our career so far.
“They are genuinely the sweetest people,” Cohen Towell added. “When we asked Marcus if he wanted to sing on ‘Antarctica’, he seemed truly thrilled. What he contributed ended up being so moving and so gentle that we knew it needed to be captured properly.” Hear it below.
At the beginning of the year, Divorce earned a place on the NME 100 list, and they have spent the summer tearing through the festival season. This month they also opened for The Maccabees at All Points East in London and joined Bombay Bicycle Club at their shows in York and Liverpool.
Earlier this spring, the group spoke with NME for The Cover and reflected on how they came up in Nottingham’s grassroots scene, surrounded by a “self sustaining” network of creatives.
“When you do not get much interest from outside, you are left with no option but to build it yourself,” Mackenzie Barrow said. “Sitting in the van on the way to a gig, looking around at your friends, spending time in the garden of the house where we wrote the songs, eating together. Those moments feel like success.”
As for Mumford and Sons, the group will return to BST Hyde Park in 2026, performing in support of their sixth studio record Prizefighter.
The album arrives through Island Records on February 13, 2026 and will include collaborations with Gracie Abrams, Hozier and Chris Stapleton. You can pre order it here.
