The legendary musician’s daughter, Ruth Clapton, has given birth to a baby girl with her partner, Peter Greenwood.
Ruth shared the happy news with followers on Instagram.
She posted a sweet photo of her newborn, wrapped in a cosy cardigan and wearing a lilac hat.
“Cecelia Rose Clapton Greenwood. Born 6th Jan 9.21am,” she wrote.
“All of us are so in love with her, and I can’t wait to share my C section journey with you, but I’m just not quite ready to be out of our newborn bubble yet. Just couldn’t resist sharing this pic of her with you all before leaving the hospital today.”
Ruth is already a mother to two sons, aged 12 and nine, whom she shares with her former husband Dean Bartlett. The pair separated in 2020.
She later found happiness with British musician Greenwood in August 2023.
The couple revealed they were expecting last July, sharing a touching video of Greenwood holding Ruth’s baby bump and showing ultrasound images.
“We’re having a baby! Just over 12 weeks now, due at the end of January 2026. So grateful,” she wrote at the time.
Clapton fathered Ruth during an affair with studio manager Yvonne Kelly while he was married to model Pattie Boyd.
Ruth’s existence was not publicly known until 1991, when she attended the funeral of Clapton’s four year old son Conor, who died after falling from a window of a New York skyscraper.
Speaking in an interview for his MTV special the year following Conor’s death, Clapton acknowledged his daughter, saying, “Ruth has been a tremendous support.”
