Zayn Malik has appeared to take a subtle swipe at the price of tickets for his former bandmate Harry Styles’ upcoming tour.
The Pillowtalk singer, who is currently performing a residency in Las Vegas at the Park MGM, surprised fans on Wednesday night when he made what many took as a pointed remark about the backlash surrounding ticket costs for the former One Direction star’s shows.
While pausing between songs, Zayn addressed the audience, asking, “Who's from Vegas? Who's from elsewhere? I just want to say a big, big thank you to each and every single one of you for being here with me tonight. You could have been anywhere but you decided to spend your night with me. Hopefully, the ticket prices weren't too high.”
Footage shared on social media shows Zayn licking his lip and giving a playful shrug, smiling slightly as the crowd reacted with audible gasps and cheers, while members of his band applauded.
Quickly brushing past the moment, he then added, “Just sayin', anyway, who wants to hear another song?!”
In recent days, some of Harry’s fans have taken to social media to voice frustration over the cost of tickets. For his 12 date run at London’s Wembley Stadium, prices reportedly start at $61 (£44) and rise beyond $643 (£466), with VIP packages said to reach up to $1,000 (£725).
Meanwhile, tickets for his 30 show residency at New York’s Madison Square Garden are believed to range from $50 (£36) to as much as $1,180 (£855).
Harry initially announced six Wembley dates but doubled the run after overwhelming demand. With 12 shows now confirmed, he has become the artist with the most performances at the venue in a single year, overtaking Coldplay’s previous record of 10 shows last summer.
The 31 year old has also set a new benchmark for a solo artist by delivering the most concerts in a single run at the stadium, beating Taylor Swift’s eight night Eras Tour record from 2024.
Harry is scheduled to take over the venue from Friday 12 June through to Saturday 4 July, with Shania Twain joining him as the opening act.
The Together, Together tour launches in May and currently includes 58 dates across seven cities, in support of his long awaited fourth album, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally, which is due for release on 6 March.
