Zayn Malik has responded after viral footage sparked claims that he aggressively swore at fans while leaving a hotel in Manchester.
The former One Direction member addressed the situation after videos circulated online showing him appearing frustrated while trying to reach a waiting vehicle outside the hotel on Sunday.
According to footage shared by TMZ, the “PILLOWTALK” singer looked visibly annoyed as a crowd gathered around him and blocked the path to his car.
Zayn was reportedly heard shouting, “get the f**k out of my way,” before making his way through the crowd and getting into the vehicle.
Reports also claimed that a female member of his team who was with him could be heard pleading with the crowd to move aside.
“You guys he can't get in the car! Please can you watch out! How am I supposed to get in the front seat? Can you move please so I can get in the car!” she reportedly shouted.
After clips from the incident spread across social media, Zayn responded in the comments section of a TMZ Instagram post, clarifying that the people causing the issue were not actual fans but what he described as “stalkers.”
“Let's get the facts straight, the fans were and always are respectful and amazing, the problem was the various adult men who stood blocking the hotel doors and the car for 10 minutes, not letting us or the security guards leave,” he wrote.
“They are not fans, they are stalkers that show up wherever someone they want to meet is and do the same thing to everyone to try to get content,” he continued. “It is not safe and not okay and they ruin it for the real fans.”
Zayn had been staying at the Manchester hotel after performing at AO Arena as part of his Konnakol Tour, which officially launched in London on Saturday.
The incident comes not long after the singer was forced to cancel 22 dates on his tour following a health issue that resulted in him being hospitalized last month.
