Swift has officially revealed her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, and in doing so, she may have dropped some hints about the collaborators involved.
Along with the big announcement, Swift rolled out a Spotify playlist called And, baby, that’s show business for you. The playlist is made up of 22 songs, all previously released tracks produced by Max Martin and Shellback. Naturally, this has fans speculating that the legendary producers could also be behind the sound of her upcoming project.
One notable change in this new era is the absence of frequent collaborator Jack Antonoff, signaling a possible creative shift in Swift’s inner circle.
The pop superstar made the announcement earlier today, following days of speculation about a possible new era. That buzz started building on Monday (Aug. 11) when fans noticed a countdown clock appear on her official website , hinting that something big was on the way.
When the countdown struck zero at exactly 12:12 a.m. ET on Aug. 12, Swift’s online store opened pre-orders for The Life of a Showgirl. Fans can choose from vinyl, CD, and cassette formats. The store lists the official release date as “to be announced,” though physical copies are expected to ship ahead of Oct. 13.
Adding to the excitement, the New Heights podcast — hosted by Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother, NFL star Jason Kelce — hinted Monday morning at “a VERY special guest” joining their Wednesday episode. It was later confirmed that Swift will appear, with her episode premiering at 7 p.m. ET on Wednesday (Aug. 13).
In a teaser clip posted to both Swift’s and New Heights’ Instagram pages, she gives fans exactly what they’ve been waiting for: confirmation that this is indeed the long-awaited #TS12.
“So I wanted to show you something,” Swift says in the clip, holding up a blurred copy of her upcoming record. “This is my brand new album, The Life of a Showgirl.” The full album cover is expected to debut during her New Heights interview on Wednesday.
