Kendrick Lamar has officially dropped out of the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the first time since his high-profile feud with Drake began in 2024. The last song to hold its spot on the chart was his collaboration with SZA, “luther,” from his most recent album GNX. The single spent an impressive 13 consecutive weeks at number one before falling off the list.
Drake’s fans quickly reacted to the news online. One person on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, “But this yall savior right? Kendrick era for sure LMAO.” Another user added, “Oh yeah, no one’s gonna come anywhere close to Drake’s consecutive weeks charting record.”
Kendrick Lamar and Drake’s feud ignited in 2024 after Lamar’s collaboration with Future and Metro Boomin on “Like That.” On the track, Lamar dismissed the notion of a “Big 3” in hip-hop, declaring that he stood alone. Over the next several weeks, both artists exchanged multiple diss tracks, with the tension peaking upon the release of “Not Like Us.” The track became a major hit and helped secure Lamar’s role as the headliner for the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show.
Later that year, Lamar further solidified his chart dominance with the release of his sixth studio album GNX. The project featured appearances from SZA, Dody6, Lefty Gunplay, Wallie the Sensei, Siete7x, Roddy Ricch, AzChike, Hitta J3, YoungThreat, and Peysoh. Both “Squabble Up” and “Luther” climbed to the top of the Billboard Hot 100, adding to his impressive streak of hits.
Following the Super Bowl, Lamar joined SZA for the co-headlining Grand National Tour. Together, they performed 47 shows across Europe, North America, Australia, and South America. While SZA will not be joining the Australian leg, Lamar will continue the tour solo with four additional shows scheduled for December.
Meanwhile, Drake is gearing up to release his much-anticipated album Iceman, his first full-length solo project since the feud. This comes after his collaborative effort with PartyNextDoor on $ome $exy $ongs 4 U.
