Sam Fender and Olivia Dean have rewritten the UK chart record books after their collaboration "Rein Me In" became the longest running Number 1 single ever by a British artist. The song has now spent 16 non consecutive weeks at the top of the UK Singles Chart since first reaching Number 1 in June 2025, surpassing the 32 year record set by Wet Wet Wet's 1994 hit "Love Is All Around." The achievement also puts the pair level with Bryan Adams' 16 week reign in 1991, leaving them just two weeks away from matching Frankie Laine's all time record of 18 weeks at Number 1.
The song's remarkable success has been driven by its broad appeal, with Fender crediting Olivia Dean for bringing a fresh perspective to the collaboration that helped connect with listeners. Wet Wet Wet also congratulated the duo on the milestone, saying they were proud to have held the British record for more than 30 years before seeing it passed on to two of today's standout artists.
Away from the race for Number 1, several songs enjoyed strong gains across the UK Singles Chart. Alabama singer Ella Langley reached a new career high as "Choosin' Texas" climbed four places to Number 5. Football fever also boosted a number of familiar songs ahead of England's World Cup quarter final against Norway. Oasis' "Wonderwall" rose to Number 11, Shakira and Burna Boy's official tournament anthem "Dai Dai" climbed to Number 13, and "Three Lions" surged 14 places to reach Number 21.
Sienna Spiro also celebrated a breakthrough week after the release of her debut album, placing three songs on the chart. "Material Lover" remained inside the Top 20, while "Die On This Hill" jumped to Number 19. Elsewhere, ANOTR reached a new peak with "Talk To You" at Number 14, Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" returned to the Top 40 for the first time in 16 years, and Madonna earned her 74th Top 40 hit with "Danceteria."
